Canterbury Tales
The personality of a Knight-I am a most distinguished man. From the day on which I first began to ride abroad had followed chivalry, truth, honor, generousness, and courtesy. And though I am so much distinguished, I am wise and in my bearing modest as a maid. I never yet a boorish thing had said in all my life to any, come what might; I am true, a perfect gentle night. My equipment-I possess fine horses but I am not gaily dressed. I wear a fustian tunic stained and dark with smudges where my armor has left marks. Just home from service I join others ranks to do my pilgrimage and render thanks. I have my son with me, a fine young squire who is a lover and cadet, a lad of fire.
